High School Demands Girls Send Photos Of Homecoming Dresses For Approval

INJOHigh school dances are typically a time where students can take their minds off the mundane day to day worries of homework and extracurricular activities and focus on having some good old-fashioned fun.

However, one school in Pewaukee is being criticized for taking the fun out the event.

According to a report by Journal Sentenial, a school district in Waukesha County is requiring all “dress-wearing” attendees to present photos of their attire prior to the event so they can be screened for appropriateness.

The request has reportedly been made as an extension of the school district's dress code, in an effort to allegedly prevent students from being asked to leave if their dress is deemed inappropriate upon arrival.

Since the Homecoming dance requirement has been set in place, students and parents alike are lashing out at the school district for what many are calling an obscene and sexist demand.

Rebecca Sheperd, whose daughter is a freshman at Pewaukee this year, said to reporters:

“The girls are essentially being held responsible for the wayward thoughts (administrators) think boys have.”

Adding:

“They're being told, 'You are the problem.' These are the roots of rape culture, frankly.”
