Power Company: Winterization Plans Failed At Two Plants

Winterization plans did not work at two plants run by the largest power companies in Texas. Calpine CEO Thad Hill told the Texas House State Affairs and Energy Resources committees the plants failed due to freezing conditions last week. Hill says the company follows all best practices and revises them every year. He noted everything looked good when he went to bed on Valentine's Day, but was immediately called when power started dropping from the grid. The Texas Legislature is holding hearings today on last week's multi-day power outage in the state after winter storms.
