The impeachment trial of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton will start no later than August 28th. The state Senate agreed to the timeline on Monday shortly after the House named the 12 members who will prosecute the case. The legislature voted overwhelmingly on Saturday to impeach Paxton, who says the move is politically motivated. The full Senate will consider recommended procedural rules for the trial on June 20th. It will then be up to Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick to pick a trial date "not later than" August 28th.
