Police in Illinois have determined that the deaths of Rachel Dumovich, 29, and Brandon Dumovich, 30, were a murder-suicide. The couple was found dead in their car on October 6, just days before their first wedding anniversary. An officer discovered the couple when he noticed a parked car with hazard lights on along Route 14 in Harvard, Illinois. Upon inspection, both individuals were found deceased inside the vehicle.
According to the McHenry County Coroner’s Office, both Rachel and Brandon died from gunshot wounds to the head, and a gun was found in the car. The investigation revealed that Brandon fatally shot Rachel before taking his own life. The Harvard Police Department confirmed these findings and assured the public that the incident was isolated, posing no ongoing threat to the community.
Rachel and Brandon had a long history together, having met at the age of 12 and maintaining a friendship for 15 years before they began dating in 2022. They married in October 2024 and were living in Sharon, Wisconsin, at the time of their deaths. Rachel worked in human resources, while Brandon was a former Petty Officer in the United States Navy.
