A backyard wedding in Missouri ended in tragedy after a pair of armed men stormed the reception. After being together for more than a decade and having two children, Dulce and Francisco Gonzalez finally decided to get married.

On Friday (June 28), around 50 of their closest friends and family joined them in their backyard for the ceremony. The wedding and reception were going great until 1 a.m. when two men in ski masks stormed into the backyard.

The men demanded money from the guests and pointed guns at Francisco. While they were rifling through the guests' pockets, one of the men shot Francisco several times.

The two masked men then fled the scene without taking any money.

"They took nothing, yet they took everything from us," Yaribeth Pena, the bride's sister, told KSDK.

Francisco was rushed to the hospital and remains in critical condition.

"He's fighting for his life. We are hoping he pulls through. (My sister) is distraught, she's depressed, she's heartbroken. They were saying my brother-in-law was going for his wallet, and maybe they thought he was going for a weapon," Peña said.

Authorities are investigating the incident but have not made any arrests.
