Former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler reportedly tried to bribe the driver of a vehicle he rear-ended prior to his DUI arrest in Tennessee on Thursday (October 17), according to police documents reviewed by WGN.

Cutler, 41, allegedly offered the other driver $2,000 to not call the police. The former quarterback was reported to have bloodshot eyes and slurring his words when police spoke to him at the scene.

Cutler allegedly told officers he had "a little bit" when asked if he consumed alcohol and refused a field sobriety test, having his blood drawn for a test sample at a nearby hospital, with results pending. The 41-year-old was found to have a rifle and a loaded glock inside his vehicle at the time of his arrest.

Cutler was a Pro Bowler in 2008 and selected as one of the 100 greatest Chicago Bears of All-Time during the team's centennial anniversary in 2019, ranking first in franchise history for passing yards (23,444), passing touchdowns (154) and QB wins (51). The Indiana native finished his 12-year NFL career with 35,133 yards, 227 touchdowns and 160 interceptions on 3,048 of 4,920 passing.

Cutler was selected by the Denver Broncos at No. 11 overall in the 2006 NFL Draft and spent his first three seasons with the franchise before being traded to the Bears in 2009. The former Vanderbilt standout initially retired in May 2017 before signing with the Miami Dolphins months later for one final season.

Cutler is the ex-husband of reality star Kristin Cavallari, whom he shares three children with and regularly appeared on the E! series Very Cavallari.
