Duke men's basketball head coach Jon Scheyer has been extended through the 2030-31 season, with his new deal adding two years to a previous extension reached in 2023, the school announced on its official athletics website Thursday (October 2).

Scheyer, 38, a former Duke guard from 2006-2010, who served as team captain during his senior season, was hired as the successor to his former coach Mike Krzyzewski in 2022 and led the Blue Devils to a Final Four appearance, as well as ACC regular season and ACC Tournament titles in 2025.

"Jon's remarkable impact over his first three seasons has positioned Duke Basketball for sustained excellence, and we are proud to ensure his leadership well into the future," said Nina King, the vice president, director of athletics and adjunct professor of business administration at Duke University. "He has delivered championships and national prominence, and he continues to lead a program built on character, connection and a relentless pursuit of greatness. Jon's vision for Duke Basketball aligns perfectly with our highest aspirations, and we couldn't be more excited for the future of this program under his leadership."

Scheyer has an 89-22 (48-12 ACC) head coaching record through his first three seasons, which included a career-best 35-4 (19-1 ACC) finish during the 2024-25 season. The Illinois native ranks 10th in Duke history with 2,077 career points and was an NCAA champion as a player in 2010, as well as an assistant coach in 2015.
