A tragic altercation at a Dallas shopping center ended with the fatal shooting of Cecilia Simpson, 41, allegedly by Keona Hampton, 22, on Tuesday (October 7). The incident reportedly began when Simpson became upset with Hampton for not saying "thank you" after she held a door open for her, according to an affidavit obtained by ABC News.

The dispute escalated in the parking lot of a shopping center in southwest Dallas. Simpson and a witness, who is unnamed for safety reasons, initially left the store and drove to another location within the shopping center, where they reported being followed by Hampton. The altercation continued inside a PetSmart store and later moved back to the parking lot.

According to the affidavit, Hampton threw a bottle at Simpson's vehicle, prompting a physical confrontation. During the altercation, Hampton allegedly drew a handgun and fired three shots at Simpson, who later died at a local hospital. Cellphone footage captured the incident, showing Hampton walking away with a black and silver handgun.

Police arrested Hampton later that day during a traffic stop. She admitted to shooting Simpson, claiming she was trying to get Simpson away from her. Hampton is currently held without bond in a Dallas County jail, charged with murder. It remains unclear if she has legal representation.
