Ghislaine Maxwell is reportedly seeking a commutation of her 20-year prison sentence from President Donald Trump. A whistleblower informed House Democrats of Maxwell's efforts and alleged she is receiving preferential treatment in prison. According to the whistleblower, Maxwell is preparing a commutation application with assistance from the warden at the Federal Prison Camp Bryan, where she is currently held. The whistleblower claims Maxwell enjoys "concierge-style" treatment, including customized meals and special privileges.
House Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Jamie Raskin has called on President Trump to reject Maxwell's request, stating that the administration should not provide special treatment to a convicted sex offender. Maxwell has expressed her struggles with the commutation process in emails to her attorney. Her transfer to the minimum-security facility in Texas came after a meeting with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, during which she praised President Trump.
The Supreme Court recently rejected Maxwell's appeal to her conviction, making a presidential pardon her only remaining option for early release.
