Alexis Hernandez, 25, has been charged with two counts of murder after allegedly admitting to shooting two men in a southwest Albuquerque home on Friday (November 7). According to the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office, Hernandez claimed he received "an encrypted message in a cockroach" instructing him to kill.
Deputies responded to reports of gunfire around 10 p.m. and found two men dead inside the home. Three adults and two children were also present but unharmed. Hernandez, who was armed when he answered the door, told deputies he believed one of the victims was stalking him and had installed cameras in the house's light fixtures.
Hernandez confessed to shooting the men, Hector Rios and another individual named Yorces, in self-defense after they allegedly led him to a back room. He claimed to hear "creepy voices coming from the vents" and felt his life was in danger.
Hernandez shot both men, retrieved more ammunition from his vehicle, and shot them again. The children reportedly witnessed the shooting, but Hernandez assured police he did not intend to harm them. The other adults in the home were detained for questioning.
The case remains under investigation, and Hernandez is scheduled for a court appearance next week.
