Three young men from New Jersey have surrendered to authorities in connection with an alleged vandalism and theft incident at Playland Amusement Park in Rye, New York. The park is famously known for its role in the 1988 Tom Hanks movie Big. The men allegedly caused $57,000 in damage and stole 200 stuffed animals during a late-night spree on September 23-24.
According to police, the trio arrived at the beachside venue in a rowboat and climbed a fence to enter the amusement area. They reportedly vandalized an electrical room, cutting or ripping out fiber-optic cables for phone and internet service. Additionally, they attempted to throw a photo booth off the boardwalk but were unsuccessful.
NBC News reported that Connor Evancho, 20, from Pompton Lakes, New Jersey, surrendered at Westchester County Police headquarters in Hawthorne, New York, on Wednesday. Daniel Bracco, 19, from Oakland, New Jersey, turned himself in on Monday, and Anthony Conkling, 19, from Wykoff, New Jersey, surrendered last week.
All three face charges of felony burglary and criminal mischief, as well as misdemeanor trespassing and larceny. It is unclear if Bracco and Conkling have legal representation, and an attorney for Evancho could not be reached for comment.
