Biden Unveils $2.2 Trillion Infrastructure Plan

Promising to rebuild the "backbone of America," President Joe Biden on Wednesday unveiled his $2.2 trillion plan to improve infrastructure in the United States.

“Today, I’m proposing a plan for the nation that rewards work, not just rewards wealth,” Biden said of the American Jobs Plan. “It builds a fair economy that gives everybody a chance to succeed. And it’s going to create the strongest, most resilient innovative economy in the world. It’s not a plan that tinkers around the edges. It’s a once-in-a-generation investment in America. Here’s the truth: We’ll all do better when we all do well."

The plan calls to spend $621 billion on road improvements; $400 billion on care services for the elderly and disabled; $300 billion on manufacturing; and $100 billion to provide every American with reliable, high-speed internet access, among other things.

“I think that is the endgame of all of this, most of this will be done through a reconciliation package,” a congressional aide told Vox. “That’s what the White House believes at the end of the day.”

Check out all of the details behind the new infrastructure plan on the New York Times.

"We will all do better, when we all do well," Biden added. "It's time to build our economy from the bottom up and from the middle out, not the top down."
